Around Lake Molveno

The Altopiano della Paganella is an excellent place to embark on numerous walks and hikes in breathtaking scenery in the heart of the Adamello Brenta Nature Park, whether in the Brenta Dolomites or on Monte Paganella. For families with small children there are easy paths in the green expanses of the valley or in the woods on the edges of the five towns of Andalo, Molveno, Fai della Paganella, Cavedago and Spormaggiore.

How to get there

From the Ponte Romano (Roman bridge) and nearby Rio Ceda waterfall take the path to the ruins of the Fortini di Napoleone, built in 1805 by the Austrians as a defence against the advancing French army. Turn right to get to the Baita Fortini mountain chalet.

If, instead, you go straight ahead on the main footpath, this will bring you to the far end of the lake after passing a waterfall. Keeping to the left take the lakeside path, which winds its way up and down along the southern shore of the lake.

At Lasta (23.2 km marker on the main road) the path shifts above the road and continues gently up and down to the Grand Hotel Molveno. From there, the Re dei Belgi footpath takes you through the woods and along the lake to the Ponte di Bior bridge.

An easy and accessible walk for an enjoyable day out in the footsteps of history.
